Deployment considerations

Decide which services your dedicated server will publish

The Germany 1 Gbps dedicated category lists eight server configurations in Frankfurt. Before installing a public application, identify the network ports it needs and which interfaces it should use. Separate visitor access, administrator access and connections between application components in your deployment record. This makes it easier to explain the installation you require and to decide which services should remain limited to the systems that actually use them. Keep the port inventory alongside the chosen server plan.

nftables documents rules for filtering packets in a Linux installation. If you use it, prepare rules around the application connections you have identified and test both allowed and intentionally blocked access. Also record who can change the rules and how you will retain administrative access during a revision. Review the list when a new service is added. For the Frankfurt dedicated plans, combine this application access design with the published CPU, memory and storage requirements before preparing your configuration enquiry.

Prepare domain records when moving an application

A move to a Frankfurt dedicated server often includes changes to the names through which users reach the application. Make an inventory of website names, API endpoints and any additional hostnames that belong to the project. Identify who manages each domain and who is authorised to change its records. Include names used by automated clients, not just the address displayed on the main website. This gives the team a complete view of the naming work required for the migration.

The DNS specification describes authoritative name servers as the source of information for their zones. Locate that administrative responsibility for each domain before planning changes. Confirm which application destination each record should represent and check the resulting lookup from the clients you use. For the Germany 1 Gbps category, consider this domain handover alongside the application installation on the selected hardware. Record the approved changes and verification results so that the person coordinating the move can follow the transition.
